Vacuum

Vacuum, that was then. This is now.

Whatever preconceptions you or anybody may have of Vacuum, leave them here. Now firmly at the helm and in artistic control of Vacuum is singer Mattias Lindblom and sound architect/silent member Anders Wollbeck.

Together they have embarked on a journey of musical discovery that is Vacuum 2004. With elements of their past works such as "The Plutonium Cathedral" and "Culture Of Night", mixing old with new to stunning effect, they create elegant, breathtaking new music. YES, the electronic influences are still there but now, grown as a song writers, these songs are bigger, better and more powerful than you dare dreamed possible and throughout the one thing that will have you captivated and spellbound is the one instrument that no other band could ever have. The extraordinary vocal talents of Mattias Lindblom whose work on the forthcoming single "Fools Like Me" will leave you breathless.

Behind a deceptively at first sleeve that hints at something darker and brooding within you will find that the single perfectly demonstrate Vacuum 2004. "Fools Like Me", a radio friendly heartstopingly beautiful ballad where Mattias's voice swoops and soars. By far the most personal work to date, never before has the sound of Vacuum been so pure, powerful yet in control and over a hauntingly simple melody you are touched by the sheer emotion and power in Mattias's voice which in turn caresses and strokes you like an angels wings leaving you captivated.

The backside track "Queen" will have fans of the older style of Vacuum reaching for oxygen masks as this song somewhat experimental with controversial lyrics yet accessible and hypnotic at the same time... The strange soundscape, provided by Wollbeck, featuring ticking clocks over bleeping and stuttering slabs of synth married with hypnotic ethnic chants and crisp snare drums, is held together by Mattias's extraordinary vocal, emotive and pleading and seamlessly blending old and new vacuum together to make a streamlined and valid 2004 version of their music.

If this is anything to judge the forthcoming album on then we are about to witness something very special indeed, and if all this sounds like it comes from a devoted Fan. That's because it is, and after hearing these songs you too will feel the same and understand that Vacuum touch you in a way you have never been touched before and it can surely only be a matter of time before Vacuum are a worldwide household name.
