Coolio, the California rapper with his grand elegy to a lost generation of black Gangsta's Paradise was the number one all over the world, and self-titled album, filled with fire-breathing lexicon of post-industrial city, was to bring a bumper crop of green man - the jellyfish from Compton. His first solo album, “It Takes A Thief” appeared in 1994 and went platinum thanks to the single “Fantastic Voyage” utopian anthem parties. Soon he recorded successful of the Gangsta's Paradise album in 1995. At the Grammy Awards in 1997, Coolio received three nominations: Best Rap Album for Gangsta's Paradise, Best Rap Solo Performance for "1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New)", and Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for "Stomp".
